"It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest most uninteresting person you talk to may one day be a creature which,if you say it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and a corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare. All day long we are, in some degree helping each other to one or the other of these destinations. It is in the light of these overwhelming possibilities, it is with the awe and the circumspection proper to them, that we should conduct all of our dealings with one another, all friendships, all loves, all play, all politics. There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. nations, cultures, arts, civilizations - These are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat. But it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub, and exploit - immortal horrors or everlasting splendors.” ― C.S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory

A How to for Happiness!
This is part of an article called
The Surprising Science Behind “Supremely Happy” People
Ten things that supremely happy people do:
1. Happy people surround themselves with other happy people. Joy is contagious. People are four times more likely to be happy in the future with happy people around them.
2. Happy people try to be happy. When happy people don’t feel happy, they cultivate a happy thought and smile about it.
3. Happy people spend money more on others than they spend on themselves. Givers experience what scientists call the “helper’s high.”
4. Happy people have deep in-person conversations. Sitting down to talk about what makes a person tick is a good practice for feeling good about life.
5. Happy people use laughter as a medicine. A good old-fashioned chuckle releases lots of good neurotransmitters. A study showed that children on average laugh 300 times a day versus adults who laugh 15 times a day.
6. Happy people use the power of music. Researchers found that music can match the anxiety-reducing effects of massage therapy.
7. Happy people exercise and eat a healthful diet. Eating a poor diet can contribute to depression.
8. Happy people take the time to unplug and go outside. Uninterrupted screen time brings on depression and anxiety.
9. Happy people get enough sleep. When people run low on sleep, they are prone to feel a lack of clarity, bad moods, and poor judgment.
10. Happy people are spiritual.

My little bunny makes me smile!
This is one of the things that makes me smile! My little niece!! This is her little halloween outfit and she is just so adorable!! She totally makes me smile and so I just had to share this little gem!!
Never Alone
I think in this world it really is so important to be there for those around us. The other day while I was walking around campus I saw a girl walking around with a walking stick, this boy began walking next to her. I crepily watched this young man as he talk to her. Her face lit up as he asked her questions about what she was studying, they began laughing and big smiles draped their faces. I know in life we don't see the Lord literally walking down the street, we don't get to sit on big hills and listen to his voice penetrate into our hearts. But we still have his words and he has told us to Love! I know in when I was watching this young man I literally saw the hands of the Lord. One thing I recognized too was that they were both blessed from talking to each other. I saw the kind of act the Lord would preform. I saw brotherly love! I think when we take the time to be there for our brothers and sisters in this world the Lord smiles down from heaven.
"As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love."
-John 15:9
There are always so many excuses for why we seem to shy away from the people and stay mute, I always think it is the most awkward thing not talking to the person next to you on a 4 hour airplane ride. Or when you are in an elevator and everyone avoids eye contact! Open up! Talk to the people around you! You never know what you can learn from the lady at the cash register or the man standing next to you in Starbucks. Say hi! Talk to people, smile more! This is a beautiful world in which we live in and why don't we add our two cents. Why don't we open the door for the person in front of us or wave to the stranger you run past in the morning! I believe one person can make a change in the world and I believe it can start with you!! We all have unique differences and talents and I think now is the best time to share them and to learn about ones that belong to those around us. I remember in Hawaii I would talk to the Lady who would cleans the dorms, she always had a big smile draped across her face! I loved sitting and talking to her as she was walking around the halls. One day I got to sit down with her and we made leis and talked. I found out her husband was struggling with cancer and she had to work and then rush home to take care of him and then take him to his treatments. My heart broke inside, each day I had no idea the struggle she was going through, I had no idea the pain she must feel so often. I wanted to hold he in my arms and make everything ok. I was amazed at the optimism this women carried, how brave and positive she was! It reaffirmed to me once again that we have no idea what battle each of us are fighting. Let us be kind! When someone is rude to us we have no idea what events have been occurring in that persons life. Let us not be quick to judge. As I am writing this I am writing this to myself as well. I need to remind myself of how I should be acting! I know that when we do these things we will have great joy come into our lives and who knows we might even find a few more friends a long this crazy journey we call life!
" Be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come"
-D&C 68:6
I love the lyrics to this song! so Beautiful!!
So for years I have loved the lyrics to this song! I think they are so inspiring!
Never Alone by Lady Antebellum!
May the angels protect you
Trouble neglect you
And heaven accept you when its time to go home
May you always have plenty
Your glass never empty
And know in your belly
You're never alone
May your tears come from laughing
You find friends worth having
With every year passing
They mean more than gold
May you win but stay humble
Smile more than grumble
And know when you stumble
You're never alone
Never alone
Never alone
I'll be in every beat of your heart
When you face the unknown
Wherever you fly
This isn't goodbye
My love will follow you, stay with you
Baby, you're never alone
Well I have to be honest
As much as I wanted
I'm not gonna promise the cold winds won't blow
So when hard times have found you
And your fears surround you
Wrap my love around you
You're never alone
Never alone
Never alone
I'll be in every beat of your heart
When you face the unknown
Wherever you fly
This isn't goodbye
My love will follow you, stay with you
Baby, you're never alone
May the angels protect you
Trouble neglect you
And heaven accept you when its time to go home
And when hard times have found you
And your fear surrounds you
Wrap my love around you
You're never alone
Never alone
Never alone

From Dusk till Dawn
Have you looked up lately and seen how truly magnificent the sky is? How peaceful it is bright and early in the morning when only the birds are chirping? The world is for a moment at a stand still. The light of the morning sky begins to peak through the clouds and the whole earth begins to glow. I love this time, being outside and feeling the morning breeze kiss your lips as you breath in the cooling air. This world is a beautiful place!
Or when the day is coming to an end, when families are gathered around the table and reflect on all the treasures of the day. When the sun is setting over the ocean, when the stresses of the day slowly melted away and you are able to once again allow the worries of life to slowly escape from your mind.
Or when the day is coming to an end, when families are gathered around the table and reflect on all the treasures of the day. When the sun is setting over the ocean, when the stresses of the day slowly melted away and you are able to once again allow the worries of life to slowly escape from your mind.
What a wonderful world!

Team Hoyt
One year my family decided to head back east to go to Boston, it was springtime and beautiful with all of the cherry blossoms, historical cobblestone roads, and reenactments. While we were there we found out the Boston Marathon was going to be run that same weekend. We had to go! The streets were completely packed with people, it looked like a ant hill seeing the people line the whole running course. You could hear cheering and screaming for miles. Excitement filled the air. I did not know a single souls that was running but I felt a strong desire to watch as each person passed me. I remember loosing my voice from yelling to try to pump up the runners and they soared past us. We were standing at the side lines watching when all of the sudden the volume of the buzz you could hear began to become louder and louder. We saw in the distance a man pushing a wheel chair. As he got closer we could hear people whispering about who this man was. This was a man named Dick Hoyt, he was pushing his son Rick in his wheelchair. His son was unable to run, he had been sent to this earth without the ability to walk or speak, his body would never be able run. His loving father was going to do what ever he could for his son to experience joy, he wanted him to be able to have the sensation of feeling the breeze in his hair and the hear the excitement in the streets. The youtube clip tells the beautiful story of this father and son. I find this to be one of the most touching stories. I know I was able to see so many intricate buildings, historical landmarks, and tour an exciting city but the most memorable part of the trip I remember is seeing this love in a fathers eyes for his son. To see the pain he endured, the sacrifice he made, and the hard work he put forth to allow his son to have the experience of running the Boston Marathon. To me the story of Team Hoyt will always be one of inspiration.
Spread a Little Aloha Around the World!
Every night at 10 o'clock if you ever wanted to find my Grandma Zola you would be able to catch her watching the channel 11 news, she did this for years every night before she went to bed. Each time I sat next to her and watched, I flelt myself cringing as I began to feel a stream of fear flow into my veins. I looked at this world and saw abductions, serial killers and wars. Everything was about stealing, killing, lying, cheating, dying and it provoked fear into my heart. It was to make you believe you couldn't trust anyone around you and make you feel as if you were never able to truly be safe.
I remember as a kid I was scared to walk my dog at night because I thought I might either be eaten by a mountain lion or kidnapped by someone in a big van, never to be seen again.
Every where I go I hear of how perverted and wicked this world is. I do agree that we should not dismiss the tragedy that strikes in the lives of those on this earth,we should be aware of reality, bad things do happen. BUT we need not forget that there is still good. I believe in order to make the world a better place we need to see the good and then be the good.
When we are always focussing on the horrors and misfortunes in this life we forget to open our eyes and see all the beauty this world has toffer. This really is a beautiful world that we live in, filled with beautiful amazing people. I know for me when I recognize the good in the world I am brought to a place a peace and comfort.
I lived in Hawaii for a few years while I was attending school. One weekend for my best friends birthday we were able to go to the Disney Resort on the island. In the morning when we woke up we got to be around this beautiful hawaiian lady as she sang "A-L-O-H-A, the best way to live the Hawaiian way, spread a little aloha around the world!" I know this came from a little song tucked on the corner on a island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean but this has stuck with me! It has been years but I can still hear her singing the words in my ears. I keep reflecting on the phrase, "spread a little Aloha around the world" Spread a little love, spread a little cheer, spread a little bit of your brightness of hope. I hope from this blog I am able to allow others to see the beauty in the world around us! I want to highlight the strong mothers, the hard working fathers, the underdog. I want to display kindness emulated when no one was looking. I want to show the unsung heroes of the world, the people who keep this world a float.
When I look at the news I don't always want to hear about the tragedy that befalls are society, I want to hear about the accomplishments, courage and sought after dreams that have been attained. I want to see how truly beautiful this world really is.
